Z's 2008 NFL Season PREVIEW!
09/04/2008
Stadium ImageI can't wait for opening kickoff (Thursday Night) NY Giants vs. Redskins. We are going to see who is ready, who is hurt and who is going to come out flat.

   •  Brett the Jet
   •  Cowboys-star studded
   •  Patriots- easiest schedule
      in the league?

AFC East
Patriots- Scary good across the board; open at home versus Kansas City
Jets- Much improved up front on both sides; can you imagine signing a 3 time MVP/sure fire first ballot hall of famer; I can't wait to see this year. Defensive backs are a major concern, a weakness that is very hard to cover up. The Jets will start the year in Miami against a QB who knows Jets defense and offense better than their own QB. This could make for a tough game for the Jets who were 4-12 last year.
Bills- Great D...Good RB, WR and OL, but no QB; no chance for a winning record; Bills open against Seattle at home, could be a great game to watch.
Dolphins- Major holes everywhere, but with QB Chad Pennington, and RB Ricky Williams seeking a new contract this will be a much improved team. We will see how much Chad remembers his old D when NY Bretts come to town in week 1. Miami went 1-15 last season.

AFC North
Steelers- Very good everywhere with some questions on OL; This team is very young and talented. They will open with Houston Texans at home, good team in which the Steelers are supposed to slaughter.
Browns- Explosive offense, great athletes across the board. Can they stop the pass or run? Pieces are in place but will they fit as well, better or worse than last year? One of the leagues toughest schedule starts with Dallas coming to town. Man Up Brownies!!!!
Bengals- Very talented football team, but a team in some kinda limbo; They just cut LT Willie Anderson whom is one of the best tackles of his era and they resigned Chris Henry who will miss the first 4 games due to a suspension. Cincinnati will open the season against division rival Baltimore who has more questions than the Bengals themselves. Could be a good game. Chad Johnson changed his last name to ocho (8) cinco (5)
Ravens- Stout defense, but getting grey hair; offensive line in flux, not a good sign for rookie Joe Flacco who comes from Division I-AA Delaware; open season with Bengals at home which might give the kid a chance to shine... or?!?

AFC South
Colts- Extremely strong team, and as long as Peyton stays healthy; a perennial super bowl contender; open season with Chicago @ home and Bears D is hungry
Jaguars- Very good team in a very good conference; Defense built to win now. With Fred Taylor's recent arrest Jag's have questions all over offense except one- QB David Garrard; season opens against division rivals, Titans- makes for a great game
Titans- Great coach, great Defense, no WR's how can Vince Young answer all the questions about him with no WR's? QB questions will either rise or fall this year; season will open hosting Jaguars whom are division rivals; Vince better be ready!
Texans- Very talent- rich, solid football team in a tough conference; New OL coach Alex Gibbs could help solidify offense and running game. QB questions still arise. open season in Pittsburgh; ought to be a good fight!

AFC West
Chargers- With LT, Gates and Rivers healthy the Bolts are on one of the leagues elite; So ready to win now Pro bowl OLB Shawne Merriman is considering putting his career in jeopardy to play on knee that 4 specialists told him not to play on without surgery and rest. open the season versus intriguingly talented Panthers
Broncos- Good QB Jay Cutler; good yet troubled WR Brandon Marshall; good defensive back field, but questions everywhere else; good talent level; complex offense + no pass rush/walk run D; lots of questions with defense; season opens against question filled division rival Oakland
Kansas City- Good luck this year...starting with season opener in Foxboro...OUCH!
Raiders- Great young talent; very good defense which got better with SS Gibril Wilson and CB Deangelo Hall; team has big OL questions; all questions will be raised or answered with super talented Jamarcus Russell; Oakland starts season with division rival Broncos; should set the tone early.

NFC East
Eagles- Tough conference for all around solid team that has still yet to answer pre or post T.O. questions about receiving corps. rookie Desean Jackson might answer those questions and more; week one St. Louis comes to town and Eagles expect victory!
Cowboys- Stars on their helmets and a star studded roster looks to blaze through the NFL with no hiccups; starting with the upstart Browns in Cleveland- this could be exciting!
Giants- The Rodney Dangerfield of pro teams and pro QB's; NO Respect! overshadowed Eli is disrespected in home with big bro Peyton, and in his own town; NY NY thanks Brett!; very talented team if they stay on the roll they ended with last year all the cameras will come back; open season hosting Redskins ???tough????
Redskins- Very good team but big questions raised with old offensive line but does not end there; will Campbell progress enough to make up for team's holes? start the year with reigning Super Bowl champs and division rivals NY Giants

NFC North
Vikings- Defense ready for anybody, now! tough, fast, strong RB Adrian Peterson is exciting to watch; Will Tavarius Jackson lead this team to the top? open Monday night against Packers
Packers- This team went 13-3 last year with #4; Will we see what the same team can do with #12? Minnesota comes to town for the season opener. I don't think they are still retiring #4 at halftime.
Lions- With Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson at WR's Detroit is the envy of the league; Good D is getting better; OL lets too many defenders through; season starts in Atlanta which could be good for team ego or really, really bad for team ego
Bears- Defense is still tough enough; Devin Hester is amazing. Maybe Chicago should punt on first down. season opens in Indianapolis, can Kyle Orton lead the offense? anywhere?

NFC South
Buccaneers- Defense is good, but getting old; offense is old too; still yet there is a lot of youth on the team and it will have to show up; season begins with Saints and they have a stacked offense
Panthers- All the pieces are in place to make a championship run! They are strong across the board. We will see if they are ready with a week one trip to San Diego.****Go Panthers****
Saints- Explosive offense with talent on both sides of the ball; Can they keep it together for 16 games; starts with division champs Tampa Bay
Falcons- Welcome to the NFL Matt Ryan!; Good luck out there! Week one Detroit comes to town.

NFC West
Seattle- This team does not carry as much weight as previous Seahawk teams. Will running game survive without Alexander? Will Hasselback carry the load? Defense will answer any of their questions on the field. Conference does not look strong, so Seattle should take it. opening season in Buffalo and expecting the win.
Cardinals- Starting QB Kurt Warner? scary good WR's Fitzgerald and Boldin; Will Warner/Lienert lead offense to big points? Someone will have to with this defense! season starts at San Francisco
49ers- JT O"Sullivan and Mike Mertz offense will make or break San Fran this season which is sad because Frank Gore should be the focal point. too many holes on both sides of the ball; division rival Cardinals come to town in week 1
St. Louis- Not long removed from the greatest show on turf, but team showed many holes in going 3-13 last season; did not seem to fill many holes this year; offensive line players shows biggest holes.

R-U-READY ?!?!?!?!?!
