Z's 2008 NFL Week 14!
12/04/2008

  • Reigning Super Bowl Champion NY Giants (11-1) are steady rolling to a repeat, even if Plaxico Burress' chances of playing this year are shot (faces from 3 1/2 to 5+ years in prison, after accidentally shooting himself, on the way to the V.I.P. room!)
  • They are the Titans; the MIGHTY MIGHTY Titans (11-1) are pounding away towards a Super season, even if Vince Young has wasted his chance to be a quality NFL QB (this year)!
  • Pittsburgh (9-3) still looking like the Steel curtain of the 70's, and if that don't scare you, than you don't remember the 70's man....
  • The Carolina Panthers (9-3) and the Tampa Bay Buc's (9-3) square off on Monday night to determine who will have the upper hand in the ultra-competitive NFC South (with the Atlanta Falcons (8-4) waiting in the wings)!
  • There are TWENTY NFL teams that are still in the playoff hunt, and there will only be 13 or so still in it next week,

--AFC East (Everybody is still alive this week)
Jets- (8-4) Embarrassed by the up and down Bronco's, NY let the whole division back into the race for first, and a one game lead will be hard to protect with two cross country road trips (San Francisco and Seattle), and two division rivals (Buffalo 6-6, and Miami 7-5) still left on the schedule. Time “4” a little magic!
Dolphins- (7-5) This team only won 1 game last year, thanx Mr. Parcells! Miami has won five of six and has two tomato cans left on the schedule (San Fran and Kansas City) the last game of the year vs. the Jets could be meaningful.
Patriots- (7-5) How can a team loose the NFL MVP and still be in the thick of the playoff chance, this late in the season.... Great coaching, and a story for the ages, a QB that hadn't started since high-school (but now looks to cash in as a free agent).
Bills (6-6) How do you start (4-0) and follow it up with (2-6) (in the last eight games). Until the Bills did it I would have said it was impossible, where do you go from here.... (home to watch the playoffs)?

--AFC North (It takes two to tango, and they ain’t from Ohio!)
Steelers- (9-3) The schedule is tough, but so are the Steelers, tenacious defense, and solid offense, and they will run with the one that brung em' and run em' and run em' and run em'.
Ravens- (8-4) If anyone says they saw this coming, they are telling you a lie! Yes they have had an awesome defense for years, but they went (5-11) last year, and they have never had a good offense (not even when they won it all!), and this year they have a rookie coach (John Harbaugh), a rookie QB (Joe Flacco) from division 2 Delaware. This year also marks the first time that they have been a complete football powerhouse who is (6-1) in the last 7 games look out playoffs.
Browns- (4-8) Just when it couldn't possibly get worse QB Brady Quinn goes out for the year, and then QB Derek Anderson is lost for the year the next week. Quarterback -was- the only position that Cleveland -was- confident in...
Bengals- (1-10-1) Same story, different year.

--AFC South (and then there were two!)
Titans- (11-1) No one could have guessed, and now no one can doubt it.... Tennessee is the class of the AFC!!!
Colts- (8-4) By winning the last 5 games, Peyton has brought Indy back into the thick of the AFC playoff hunt, and with three winnable games left (Cincy, (1-10-1) Detroit (0-12), and Jacksonville (4-8), the Colts could be right on track.
Jaguars- (4-8) This team gave up a long time ago (Jacksonville has a (1-5) record after their bye in week 7)!
Texans- (4-8) This team should have given up a long time ago, but like every year this team loves the role of spoiler!

--AFC West (Somebody has got to win this... right?)
Broncos- (7-5) Denver has proven that when they are on, they are dangerous, and when they are off, they are horrible (losses to- Kansas City, Jacksonville, Miami, and Oakland)! Denver will win, by default!
Chargers- (5-7) One of the biggest disappointments in the NFL! People of San Diego, do you miss Marty-ball (do you miss winning games)?
Oakland- (3-9) Better luck next year..... or the next?
Kansas City- (2-10) You play to win the game!

--NFC East (Toughest teams in football)
Giants- (11-1) Out to prove last year was no fluke, Loosing Burress may give the team a better SHOT! If that is possible.
Cowboys- (8-4) How 'bout them Cowboys, Isn’t this about the time the G-men got rolling last year? Look out NFL.
Redskins- (8-4) After a 6-2 start the Skins are (1-3) the last 4 games, and with a few winnable games left, they better buckle down in DC.
Eagles- (5-6-1) Obviously gave up four weeks ago (0-3-1), What, had happened was...?

--NFC North (3 teams-1 spot)
Vikings- (7-5) One game lead, one winnable game left, its not what have you done for me lately (4-1 the last 5 games), its what ya gonna do now?
Bears- (6-6) Stumbling to the finish (1-3 the last 4 games) in a division that is up for grabs?
Packers- (5-7) This team was 4-3 at their bye (When they signed Mr. Rodgers to a lucrative extension), and they have been 1-4 since. In this division, they still have a slim chance.
Lions- (0-12) Look out 76' Bucs; here come the 08' paper Lions.

--NFC South (the toughest division in football)
Panthers- (9-3) And so it begins.... Monday night football, I've waited all year for this, Welcome to Charlotte, Tampa Bay Bucs (9-3) the playoffs start NOW!!!
Buccaneers- (9-3) Division supremacy starts on Monday night, with a trip to Carolina to face the Panthers (9-3). Can you feel it... can you?!?!!!!!!??!?!
Falcons- (8-4) One of the feel good stories of the year, and they ain’t ready to go home yet, as they are in the thick of the division race and the wildcard playoff hunt.
Saints- (6-6) It's not over till the fat lady sings, but it looks like she is singing about justice as New Orleans will loose Duece McAllister, Will Smith, and Charles Grant to suspensions for failing steroid tests this season.

--NFC West (1 and done)
Cardinals- (8-4) The high flying Cards are 4-1 in the last 5, and have clear sailing to the playoffs, and they still get to play Seattle, and St. Louis again!
San Francisco- (3-9) Better sign Coach Singletary full time.
Seattle- (2-10) Better get better.
St. Louis- (2-10) Better do Better.
