Z's 2008 NFL Week 15!
12/11/2008
Zsports ImageWEEK 15: Talk about crunch time,
"The cream of the crop will rise to the top!"

  • The 11-2 Giants hope that the Eagles game was just a shot in the leg, and they can get back on track for three tough games: Dallas, Carolina, and Minnesota.
  • The 11-2 Titans continue to steamroll the NFL.
  • Pittsburgh 10-3 has won 4 in a row, but must travel to 9-4 Baltimore who have won 7 of 8.
  • Carolina 10-3 found the blueprint for dominant NFL game-planning in the fourth quarter on Monday night (nice timing)!
  • The 9-4 Indianapolis Colts have won 6 in a row, with Detroit coming to town.

AFC East (3 way tie for first!)
Jets- (8-5) Two bad games in a row, and now host the free-falling Bills, losers of 7 out of 9. With the state of this division, the winner will have to win out, and get help. Look for the old magic to come to life in the next few weeks, with the help of a productive Tomas Jones (1144 yds 12 TD’s), and a recharged defense that should tighten back up.
Dolphins- (8-5) Winners of 6 out of 7 have the resurgent 49ers (won 3 of 4), before 2-11 K.C. and then a possible division deciding trip to N.Y. They have their fate in their hands, but must win out to get to the playoffs.
Patriots- (8-5) Cross country trip to Oakland where at least the weather will be nice, and maybe the defense will too.
Bills- (6-7) After loosing 6 of 7, there are a lot of questions in Buffalo.

AFC North
Steelers- (10-3) Won 4 in a row, and now: Ravens, Titans, and Browns. Steel curtain defense continues to smother all. James Harrison (15 sacks), and LaMarr Woodley (11.5 sacks) put on the pressure and Polamalu and Co. are there for the pickin's.
Ravens- (9-4) Winning 7 of 8 is only the start as Baltimore is in the thick of the playoff picture and must face Pittsburgh and Dallas in the next two weeks. This defense is always tough, but this year Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and the rest of the D seem to be on a mission.
Browns- (4-9) Looks like they have all ready started free agency with reported contact to ex-coach Marty Shottenhiemer.
Bengals- (1-11-1) Try back next year.

AFC South
Titans- (12-1) Hard to argue with success and Tennessee is the only 12 win team in the NFL. Rookie Chris Johnson has over a thousand yards and 8 TD’s; LenDale White has 674 yds and 14 TD’s. The defense is the reason for all the winning and you know what they say about that.
Colts- (9-4) Peyton has led the team, with some help from the defense to 6 wins in a row, best in the league. Up next the winless Lions (looks like 7 in a row)!
Texans- (6-7) Guess who is back to their familiar spoiler role (where they excel). Stellar seasons for Andre Johnson (92 catches, 1201 yds) rookie Steve Slaton (1024 yds, 8 TD’s) and DeMario Williams (11 sacks)
Jaguars- (4-9) This team quit months ago, but after loosing 6 of 7 surely heads will roll, right?

AFC West
Broncos- (8-5) Looks like they have found their stride at the right time, winning 4 of 5. The road won’t get any easier with a trip to (10-3) Carolina this week; will the Broncos strut, or stumble?
Chargers- (5-8) Oh how the mighty have fallen, and fallen repeatedly.
Raiders- (3-10) No comment.
Chiefs- (2-11) Ditto.

NFC East
Giants- (11-2) Coming off a loss for the second time this year, questions abound: Is the passing game shot? (:no) Is Brandon Jacobs (1002 yds 12 TD’s) injured or just hurt? (:hurt) Can they clamp down the division on Sunday night in Dallas? (:cant wait to find out).
Cowboys- (8-5) After loosing to the Steelers, remaining games vs. Giants, Ravens, and Eagles are even more daunting. Don't jump ship yet, Dallas has the pieces in the right places, they just have to execute. The lights will be on Sunday night vs. NY.
Eagles- (7-5-1) The tie vs. Cincy doesn't look so bad after the win over the Giants. Monday night game this week against the (4-9) Browns, then at Washington and vs. Dallas, does not look good, again.
Redskins- (7-6) Two losses in a row have crippled their playoff hopes, but they have exceeded expectations across the board.

NFC North
Vikings- (8-5) They have won 5 of 6, but just lost over 700 pounds of defensive tackle; Pat and Kevin Williams (no relation). With remaining games against Arizona, Atlanta, and the Giants, and only a 1 game lead, the losses could be huge (bigger than 700 lbs).
Bears- (7-6) Team must play better in order to hold on to slim playoff hopes (doubt it).
Packers- (5-8) Year one; sorry Mr. Rodgers.
Lions- (0-13) Headed to the record books.

NFC South
Panthers- (10-3) Nothing could be finer... than a title in Carolina. Hopes are high after a big Monday night game 38-23 over the Bucs, where the team ran for 299 yds. The team is playing for home field advantage throughout the playoffs, if they win out.
Buccaneers- (9-4) Down but not out after tough loss in Carolina, the real test comes this week with a trip to division rival Atlanta to see who will be in the drivers seat for the wild card.
Falcons- (8-5) Big loss to New Orleans, now they face Tampa off a loss, for the second time this year. We will find out if this is a dream season, or just a great step, this week.
Saints- (7-6) Playing in the role of spoiler.....

NFC West
Cardinals- (8-5) Run away division leaders get Vikings visit at the right time, as Pat and Kevin Williams (huge defensive tackles) have been suspended.
49ers- (5-8) Won 3 out of 4, and appear to be coming together under coach Singletary.
Seahawks- (2-11) Bye coach!
Rams- (2-11) Start over.
